Whippets Looking for a Coach

07 Feb Whippets Looking for a Coach

The Wimmera Whippets All Abilities Football Club is seeking a volunteer coach for the 2018 season.

About the Wimmera Whippets
The Wimmera Whippets are a mixed gender football and netball club for people with intellectual disability, who are aged between 14 and 40 years. The Wimmera Whippets compete in the FIDA Western Country Conference. The FIDA program aims to provide an environment for people with intellectual disability that promotes fitness, fun, friendship and a sense of belonging. Additionally this participation opportunity enhances life skills and develops self-esteem, confidence and improved health of all participants. The Wimmera Whippets’ fixture includes home and away matches against other All Abilities teams from Geelong, the Grampians, Hamilton, Warrnambool and the Ballarat. The Whippets are based at Coughlin Park in Horsham.

Coach Requirements
This role requires far less of a time commitment in comparison to regular football coaching positions.
The Wimmera Whippets coach will only be required to:
– Coordinate the weekly (1 hour) training session, and
– Coach the team during their 6 matches for the season.

This coaching position is very similar to a junior coaching role, where player enjoyment and maximum participation is valued greater than on-field success. Many of the Wimmera Whippets players have never participated in a structured football competition before, so they are incredibly grateful that the Wimmera Whippets Football Club provides them with this opportunity. The player gratification and joy makes coaching of this team a highly rewarding role.

With the 2018 season fast approaching, the Wimmera Whippets are looking to appoint a coach as soon as possible. If you, or somebody you know, are suitable for this role, then please contact Nic on 5382 4599 or nicb@wrsa.org.au to become involved.
