TEN PIN BOWLER MONTHLY NOMINEE FOR NOVEMBER

Horsham ten pin bowler Bevan Brooke is the monthly nominee for the Horsham Sports and Community Club’s Sports Star of the Year award.

Brooke won his nomination after a stellar performance at the recent Emerson Shield competition where he bowled a perfect score as a member of the Horsham team that came second.

The Emerson Shield is one of the prestigious events on the Ten Pin Bowling Association of Victoria’s calendar, where the zone finalists come together to find the state’s best ten pin bowling team.

Brooke, who has been a member of the Victorian youth team and will represent his state at Nationals next April, bowled the perfect score amidst the strongest competition the state could put in front of him, including adult bowlers who had bowled for Australia previously.

To top off a great weekend of competition Brooke was named in the All Star Five team of the tournament.

Brooke is also training hard in the hope of making an Australian junior team to compete at the World Bowling Junior Championships in Paris next year.

As the monthly winner Brooke will receive a $50 gift card from The Athlete’s Foot.

Brooke now joins volleyballers Laelah Robertson and Cleo Baker, triathlete Ella Walsgott, Ten Pin Bowler Sophie Martin, All Abilities athletes Tyson Harris and Josh Barry, equestrian Oscar Cole, swimmer Lily Eldridge, basketballer Ben Hobbs, equestrienne Morgan Lane and triathletes Susie Ellis, Sally Pymer and Kellie Miller as nominees for this year’s awards. All are in line to collect the Horsham Sports and Community Club Title of Wimmera Sports Star of the Year as well as the $1,000 Sports Star scholarship, at a gala dinner on February 8 next year and follow in the footsteps of previous winners including Maggie Caris, Jesse Iese, Darcy Tucker, Jannik Blair, Ken Bald, Alethea Sedgman and Mark O’Brien.

Nominations for the Horsham Sports and Community Club Sports Star of the Year Award close the last day of each month and can be made online at the WRSA website www.wrsa.org.au.

If you know of someone who is doing well at their sport and deserves some recognition, why not nominate them in the Sports Star of the Month.  All nominees in the monthly award will be presented with certificates signed by the Minister for Sport and Recreation John Eren and the monthly winner receives a free ticket to the annual presentation and a specially struck medallion from Wimmera Trophies and Gifts.
