Victorian families will be getting active and avoiding the traffic this October as they walk, ride or scoot to and from school for VicHealth’s Walk to School month.

Walk to School encourages primary students to walk to and from school throughout October to learn active habits that can lead to good health, and highlights the many benefits of walking for children, from improving fitness to building friendships, and even reducing traffic and pollution.

With some great prizes up for grabs, and plenty of fun competitions for students during October, Walk to School is a free, easy and fun way for kids to get the 60 minutes of exercise they need each day.

Register your school for VicHealth’s Walk to School this October!

VicHealth’s Walk to School encourages Victorian primary school children to walk, ride or scoot to and from school every school day in October, to highlight the ways walking improves children’s health and well-being.

By getting involved in Walk to School, your school can help students learn active habits that can lead to good health, and achieve the 60 minutes of physical activity recommended for children each day. Walking to school can also help reduce traffic congestion, parking difficulties and the associated environmental impacts.

All participating schools will receive student certificates to celebrate their students’ achievements, and will be in the running for regional prizes provided by VicHealth. Sign your school up and order your free Walk to School materials at www.walktoschool.vic.gov.au.
