Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly (WRSA) is proud to reaffirm its commitment to the Communities of Respect and Equality (CoRE) Alliance, a powerful regional initiative led by Women’s Health Grampians. The Alliance unites over 120 organisations across the Grampians region in a shared vision: a safe, equal and respectful society for all.
WRSA recognises the prevalence and impact of gender-based violence and acknowledges its role as a leader in community sport to drive positive change. By renewing its CoRE commitment, WRSA reinforces its determination to challenge the harmful attitudes, norms and practices that enable gender inequality and violence against women.
“Preventing violence against women requires all of us to take action,” said Tony Caccaviello, Executive Officer of WRSA. “As a key community organisation, we believe in leading from the front—promoting respectful relationships, challenging harmful stereotypes, and supporting women and girls to thrive in sport and life.”
WRSA’s renewed commitment to CoRE will see the organisation continue to:
- Challenge attitudes and beliefs around violence and inequity
- Promote gender equality and respectful relationships in sport and recreation
- Empower women and girls to lead, participate and be heard
- Strengthen policies and practices that reflect fairness, dignity and inclusion
- Collaborate with local partners to drive cultural change across the Wimmera
“Our role in sport gives us the opportunity—and responsibility—to create environments where everyone is safe, valued, and respected,” Mr Caccaviello added. “We’re proud to be part of a region-wide movement that says: gender inequality and violence have no place in our communities.”
The CoRE Alliance continues to grow as a collective of passionate organisations committed to prevention and progress. WRSA invites other sporting bodies, clubs and community organisations to consider how they too can take meaningful steps toward a safer and more equitable Wimmera.
