Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly’s Summer Series brought people together through simple, social and inclusive activity across Horsham this summer.
Running through February and March 2026, the Summer Series focused on creating low-barrier opportunities for young people with limited mobility and anyone looking for a welcoming way to be active, connect with others and try something new.
Supported by Horsham Rural City Council’s Community Events Grants, the Summer Series sessions ran at Horsham’s City Oval Netball Courts, activating the space at a time it is otherwise unused, and providing eight opportunities for those not involved in local sport to be active, free of charge.
The Summer Series is another example of how community sport and recreation can be adapted to suit the needs of local people. Not every program needs to be formal, high-pressure or competition-based to have an impact. Sometimes the most valuable outcomes come from simply creating a space where people feel comfortable to join in, move their body, meet others and be part of something positive.
