WRSA Chair Jeff Pekin paid tribute to Tony’s leadership: “Tony has been an exceptional leader who has brought energy, vision and genuine commitment to the Wimmera community. His contribution to the WRSA and to sport and active recreation across our region has been significant – from leading the development of our Strategic Plan 2025–2028 and growing WRSA membership to more than 80 members, to delivering the Sports Star of the Year 40th Anniversary Celebration and recommitting the organisation to the CoRE Alliance. His legacy is an organisation that is stronger, more connected and more inclusive than ever.”

Tony said of his time with WRSA: “It has been an absolute privilege to serve the Wimmera community in this role. I am proud to have led a community-driven organisation and to have played a part in building it into one that is genuinely positioned to shape and contribute to the future of sport and active recreation across the Wimmera region. I am proud of what we have achieved together and I have every confidence in WRSA’s next chapter.”

The WRSA Board has commenced a recruitment process for the incoming Executive Officer as it remains committed to its mission of being the trusted leader connecting individuals, community sport and partners across the region.

The board is seeking a strategic, community-focused leader with proven experience in a not-for-profit, sport, recreation or community setting. It is essential that applicants have a genuine understanding of volunteer-led sporting clubs and what it takes to support them to thrive, and that they have the drive to make a lasting impact in the Wimmera.
