Three More Finalists Announced for 2025 Wimmera Sports Star of the Year Awards

30 Nov 2025
The countdown to the 2025 Wimmera Sports Star of the Year Awards continues, with three outstanding athletes added to the finalist list — each representing the dedication, resilience, and excellence that define sport in the Wimmera.
This round of announcements recognises the achievements of Lilly Weir (CrossFit)Kelly Miller (Triathlon), and Josh Barry (Lawn Bowls) — three athletes who have excelled on the national and international stage while proudly representing our region.
Lilly Weir – CrossFit
Lilly became the first teen athlete from Horsham and the wider Wimmera to compete at the CrossFit Games in the United States. Her achievement reflects years of commitment, travel, and training, all balanced with exceptional results at school.
Competing among the world’s best, Lilly placed 13th overall from a field of 30 in her category — the second-best performer from the Oceania region. Her consistency across six gruelling events has made her a role model for younger athletes, inspiring others to aim high and  give it everything they have got.
Kelly Miller – Triathlon
Already a member of the Wimmera Sports Star Hall of Fame, Kelly continued to raise the bar in 2025. She won her age group at Ironman Cairns and went on to represent Australia at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, finishing 4th in her division and 9th overall.
Her results underline years of perseverance, elite fitness, and incredible consistency, qualities that continue to make Kelly one of the region’s most admired endurance athletes.
Josh Barry – Lawn Bowls
Josh has enjoyed another exceptional year on the green, claiming silver in the Multi-Disability Open Pairs at the 2025 Australian Open and representing Victoria in the Victoria v NSW Para Bowls Test Series.
He capped off the year with gold in the Men’s Triples and bronze in the Men’s Doubles at the Bowls Australia Para National Championships last week in Tasmania. The 2025 victory marks his fifth consecutive gold in the Triples  a remarkable achievement highlighting his sustained excellence at national level.
These three join Georgia Foster (Athletics) and Remi Bailey (Gymnastics) as finalists for the 2025 Wimmera Sports Star of the Year Awards.
The grand celebration will take place on Friday 13 February 2026, where finalists across 16 categories will be honoured and the Wimmera Sports Star of the Year crowned.
